Hyouka - Episode 1

What's this? Nice artwork

First episode on the way, Eru's eyes were sparkly. She's definitely an eye candy material don't you think? Anyway Kyoto Animation did a good job on the fluidity of the animation. Themes were presented in a way that it would be interesting to many viewers. I kinda expected a very good performance overall from Kyoto Animation, who are actually coming off their recent anime in Nichijou, which was their only anime project last year besides the K-On! movie.

Hōtarō isn't really a character I would really want to deal with. True, he's smart but there have been male leads with the "I don't care stuff." I can only guess that he will get better. To start off, he rants on things about people spending their energy on clubs. He wants to get things done in a flash. He doesn't want to spend his energy on useless things unless he needs to. Anyway, he joins the Classical Club which to me, isn't really a good name for a club without goals, missions and what like. It felt more to me like an investigation club so there. The Classical Club is almost on the brink of disbanding so Hōtarō's sister told him to join the club. Even if he acts in a way that would make him a loner or an outcast, Chitanda Eru  and Satoshi (Hōtarō's friend) might be the ones to give him that character development later on.

Chitanda Eru is a very beautiful. She had captivating eyes and a nice face. Her personality is like the happy-go-lucky type with a childlike innocence.

As for the story, the little mysteries are a start. The locked door was kinda lame since even an ordinary student can find out what happened. What bugged me is the part where the room is next to the staircase, so I thought Eru was able to pass by the rail just outside the window of the staircase and somehow, get into the room by the window. The Silk Spider Association club was just a small piece of paper, I just don't get why Hōtarō had to reveal the whole thing to Eru but the day ends and Hōtarō still doesn't give a care to the world.

Anyway nice episode.
