Aura: Maryūinkōga Saigo no Tatakai Anime Film Officially Unveiled

The company Marvelous AQL opened a website to officially unveil the anime film adaptation of Romeo Tanaka's Aura: Maryūinkōga Saigo no Tatakai light novel. The anime's website lists the release date as "coming soon."
The 2008 school romantic comedy novel revolves around Ichirō "Menzu" Satō, a high school freshman who forgets his textbook at school one day. Ichirō encounters a beautiful girl while sneaking back into his school in the dead of night. The girl calls herself a witch from a parallel world. Ichirō used to suffer delusions of grandeur like this, but vowed to stop so that he can successfully re-invent himself as a freshman in high school.

Seiji Kishi (Persona 4, Angel Beats!, My Bride is a Mermaid/Seto no Hanayome) is directing the anime at AIC ASTA. Makoto Uezu (School Days, Is This a Zombie?, My Bride is a Mermaid) is collaborating on the story composition with scriptwriter Jun Kumagai (Persona 4 The Animation episodes). Kazuaki Morita (Carnival Phantasm, Kamisama Dolls, My Bride is a Mermaid) is adapting the original novel illustrations by mebae (C – Control – The Money and Soul of Possibility).

In December, the Japanese publisher Shogakukan revealed on the Shonen Sunday Super magazine's website that a theatrical anime film of Aura would open in 2012. However, the editors at Shogakukan's Gagaga imprint reported a day later that the information was "partially in error." Then this weekend, retailers listed the Blu-ray Disc and DVD volumes for the Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita television anime series with promotional videos for the Aura film. (Tanaka wrote the original light novels for both Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita and Aura.)
